Our team is especially interested in small animal and exotic veterinary medicine. Our first stop is South Africa, where we will be working alongside a local veterinarian to provide veterinary care to Africa’s native wildlife and assist with species conservation. After that we are heading to Southeast Asia, where we will be volunteering with the Elephant Nature Park, giving us the opportunity to work with elephants as well as the dogs and cats that are housed in their small animal shelter. Our next stop is Koh Samui Dog Rescue, where we hope to gain clinical experience with spays and neuters while helping to control the overpopulation and assisting with community education. We are excited to practice our clinical skills while helping the communities we visit throughout the summer.

A little bit about us:
Lisa: I am so grateful for the opportunity to volunteer abroad with Global Vets. I am particularly excited to apply the knowledge I have acquired at OVC in order to assist in South African wildlife conservation. I am also eager to help care for the elephants, dogs, and cats of Southeast Asia by providing medical care, performing surgeries, or assisting in any other way that will help the locals nurture these animals. I believe that my passion and past experience with small animals will not only allow me to provide the best care that I can, but it will also allow me to better assist others and learn through this opportunity. More than anything, I am delighted to have the chance to positively impact the communities that my team will visit and I hope that this will be a beneficial experience for all involved.
Brittany: Ever since I heard about Global Vets I knew it was an organization I wanted to be a part of it. Two years ago I travelled to Guatemala to participate in spay and neuter programs with local veterinarians. I was so touched by the generosity of the people in these communities and their desire to help their animals despite their limited resources that I knew I wanted to become more involved in international veterinary medicine. I am especially interested in exotic and wildlife species conservation, but I also have a passion for small animal medicine. I am so excited to travel to South Africa and Asia, which will allow me to gain experience with both wildlife and small animals while experiencing new cultures and fostering international relationships.
Dominique: Hello there! My passion in life is exotic animals, which is why I am very excited to be going to South Africa and Southeast Asia to volunteer and learn more about species conservation. I have a huge interest in biodiversity and I can’t wait to discover more about our planet with my amazing team mates!
